FAQS
Purchasing & Availability
1
Do you sell directly to consumers, or only through dealers?
LS2 Helmets USA supports a nationwide network of authorized dealers and select online retail partners. Please reference our official “Find A Dealer” Map to find a dealer near you.
We strongly recommend purchasing through an authorized LS2 dealer to ensure you receive genuine products, warranty coverage, and proper customer support.
2
Why can’t I purchase LS2 helmets or accessories from overseas retailers?
LS2 models distributed in the United States are designed and certified to meet U.S. safety standards (DOT) and market specifications. Products sold overseas differ in certification, fit, sizing, or configuration.
Additionally, warranty coverage through LS2 Helmets USA applies only to products distributed by authorized U.S. dealers. For safety, compliance, and warranty protection, we recommend purchasing through authorized U.S. retailers.

Helmet Construction & Safety
1
What are the main components (anatomy) of an LS2 helmet?
An LS2 helmet is engineered with multiple layers designed to manage impact energy and maximize rider protection:
-
Outer Shell – Made from Carbon Fiber (6K, 9K, Forged), High-Performance Fiberglass Composite (HPFC), Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA), or High-Pressure Thermoplastic Technology (HPTT) depending on the model.
-
EPS Liner – Multi-density expanded polystyrene foam designed to absorb impact energy.
-
Comfort Liner – Removable, washable padding for fit and moisture management.
-
Retention System – DOT-approved chin strap and buckle system.
-
Ventilation System – Adjustable intake and exhaust ports for airflow management.
-
Face Shield System – Optical-quality shield with anti-scratch coating and optional Pinlock® compatibility (model dependent).
Each component works together as a system and should not be modified.
2
What is the difference between DOT and ECE certifications?
DOT (Department of Transportation) certification is required for street-legal helmets in the United States. Manufacturers self-certify that their helmets meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS 218).
ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) certification is widely used internationally and involves third-party testing under Regulation 22.05 or 22.06 standards.
While testing methodologies differ, both certifications are recognized safety standards. LS2 engineers helmets to meet or exceed applicable requirements for their intended market. Most modern LS2 models are both DOT and ECE certified.
3
Do I need to replace my helmet after a crash, even if there’s no visible damage?
Yes. If a helmet has experienced an impact during a crash, it should be replaced—even if no external damage is visible. The EPS liner is designed to absorb impact energy by compressing. Once compressed, it cannot provide the same level of protection again.

Your safety is worth replacing the helmet.
4
Can a helmet or shield be reused after a minor impact?
If a helmet has sustained any meaningful impact, replacement is recommended. Minor cosmetic drops without head impact may not require replacement, but if there is any doubt, replacement is the safest choice.
Shields that are scratched, cracked, or compromised should be replaced to maintain optical clarity and structural integrity.
5
What parts of a helmet can or cannot be repaired?
Replaceable Components:
Comfort liners, cheek pads, shields, shield mechanisms, and certain trim pieces.

Non-Repairable Components:
Outer shell and EPS liner.

If the shell or EPS liner is damaged, the helmet should be replaced.
6
Does LS2 offer a crash replacement program?
LS2 may offer crash replacement assistance in certain situations. Please contact customer service with photos and details of the incident for evaluation. Programs, when available, are subject to review and eligibility guidelines.
Fit & Sizing
1
Why does sizing feel inconsistent between models?
Different helmet models use different shell shapes, interior liner designs, and intended riding applications. While sizing charts remain consistent, interior shape and padding density may create a slightly different fit experience.

We recommend measuring your head carefully before purchase, trying helmets on in-store when possible, and consulting LS2 customer support for model-specific guidance (CSR@ls2helmets.us).
2
What is the difference between slim and regular cheek pads?
Some LS2 models offer interchangeable cheek pad thicknesses:
-
Regular Cheek Pads – Standard fit configuration.
-
Slim Cheek Pads – Reduced thickness from regular pads (-5mm) for riders who need additional room in the cheek area.
-
Thick Cheek Pads – Increased thickness from regular pads (+5mm) for riders who need a snugger fit in the cheek area.
Changing cheek pads can fine-tune comfort without altering the helmet’s core safety structure.
Noise & Ventilation
1
How do LS2 helmets compare in noise and ventilation?
Noise levels vary depending on helmet type, riding position, motorcycle windscreen setup, and speed. Modular and ADV helmets may generate slightly more wind noise than full-face sport helmets due to design differences.

Ventilation systems are engineered per model to balance airflow and aerodynamics. Adjustable intake and exhaust ports allow riders to customize airflow based on conditions.

Accessories & Compatibility
1
Does this helmet have speaker pockets?
Most LS2 helmets are designed with built-in speaker recesses to accommodate Bluetooth communication systems, especially our own LS2 Spectrum Intercom Powered by Midland.
The models that have built-in speaker pockets are:
Thunder Carbon
Dragon
Challenger II
Assault III
Stream II
Centric
Advant XC
Advant X
Advant II
Horizon II
Strobe II
Gate II
Blaze II

However, size and depth may vary by model.
2
What size are the speaker pockets?
Speaker pocket dimensions vary by model. Most accommodate standard 40mm speakers. For exact measurements, please contact customer service (CSR@ls2helmets.us).
3
Should I use an adhesive mount or clamp mount for my Bluetooth device?
This depends on the helmet model.

Helmets with a defined shell edge typically allow clamp mounting. Helmets with aggressive shell shapes or thicker trim may require adhesive mounting.

Always follow your communication device manufacturer’s instructions and ensure installation does not interfere with helmet safety or fit.
4
Is this helmet Pinlock® ready?
Many LS2 outer face shields are Pinlock®-ready and even come standard with the helmet. Check your specific helmet on our product page to see if it is Pinlock®-ready.
If you purchased your helmet on Amazon, please refer to your order history and look for the “Sold by” field on the item you purchased. This is usually found under the “Buy Now” button.
5
Can I mount an action camera to my helmet?
While many riders choose to mount cameras, LS2 does not officially recommend modifying the helmet shell. Adhesive mounts are generally preferred over clamp systems. Any modification may affect aerodynamics and could potentially impact helmet performance.
