THE NEW

BMW R 18

SOUL IS ALL THAT MATTERS.

The new R 18 invokes the history and the iconic hallmarks of the BMW brand. The result is a true BMW cruiser that is full of character,  surrounding the largest displacement boxer engine they have ever built and timeless design features, such as the white double striping on the R 18 First Edition. The flyline is elongated and low. The double-cradle steel frame covers the powerful, sculpted engine that underlines the impressive presence of the bike. Riders also have a number of custom equipment options: the R 18 is scaled back to its core to allow for full customization.

With the new R 18, BMW Motorrad now enters the cruiser segment. Like no other BMW motorcycle before it, this model stands entirely in the tradition of historical BMW motorcycles – both technically and in terms of design style. It borrows from famous models such as the BMW R 5 both technologically and visually, shifting the focus back onto the motorcycle essentials: purist, no-frills technology and the boxer engine as the epicenter of riding pleasure, combined with “good vibrations”. What is more, classic design is combined in the R 18 with clear-cut yet contemporary technology to create a fascinating overall concept – offering a riding experience that is as cultivated as it is emotional.

The R 18 masterfully transposes the iconic style of bygone times to the present day, retaining a purist design in numerous details that is mainly influenced by classics such as the BMW R 5. It is no coincidence that functional and stylistic elements such as the double-loop frame, the pear-drop tank, the open-running driveshaft and the pinstriped paintwork (ex-factory option) are reminiscent of the legendary boxer dating back to 1936. The classic bodywork features of the R 18 are also made of metal – as befits an authentic classic. The suspension is likewise aptly reminiscent of the legendary R 5. Together with the double-sided swingarm and a cantilever suspension strut, the rigid-frame concept of the R 5 is perfectly transported into the modern age in visual terms.

The centerpiece the new BMW R 18 is a newly developed 2-cylinder boxer engine – the “Big Boxer”. Both its impressive appearance and its technology reflect a continuation of the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have offered an inspiring riding experience since BMW Motorrad began production in 1923. The most powerful 2-cylinder boxer engine ever used in motorcycle series production has a displacement of 1 802 cc. The peak output is 67 kW (91 hp) at 4 750 rpm. From 2,000 to 4,000 rpm, over 150 Nm of torque is available at all times, and this elemental pulling power is combined with a full, resonant sound.

The centerpiece of the suspension in the new R 18 is a double-loop steel tube frame. Its design perpetuates the longstanding BMW Motorrad tradition of this frame type. Outstanding manufacturing quality and meticulous attention to detail is also evident in unapparent features such as the welded joints between the steel tubes and the cast or forged parts. Like the legendary BMW R 5, the rear swingarm – sporting a comparable design – surrounds the rear axle transmission in authentic style by means of bolted connections.

SOUL IS ALL THAT MATTERS.

2021-bmw-r_18-30_1600x0w.jpg

The suspension elements of the new BMW R 18 deliberately dispense with electronic adjustment options. Instead, a telescopic fork and a directly mounted central suspension strut with travel-dependent damping and adjustable spring preload ensure superior wheel control and attractive suspension comfort. As in the legendary BMW R 5, the tubes of the telescopic fork are encased in fork sleeves. The fork tube diameter is 49 mm, while the suspension travel is 120 mm at the front and 90 mm at the rear. The new BMW R 18 braking system consists of a twin-disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear in conjunction with four-piston fixed calipers. Meanwhile, the wire-spoked wheels ensure a supremely stylish appearance.

An exclusive R 18 First Edition will be available across the globe in congruence with the model launch, sporting a black paint job with white pinstripes, chrome upgrades, a seat badge, and a First Edition chrome inscription on the side covers. The price in the United States for the FE will be $19,780 while a base model will also be available in select markets for $17,495 USD.

CBR1000RR-R

FIREBLADE SP

2021-cbr1000rr-r-fireblade-gallery-05-24
2021 HONDA CBR1000RR-R FIREBLADE SP

What you see here is the best of the best, the most exclusive, feature-rich open-class sportbike Honda has ever built under the CBR banner. Introducing the limited edition CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Street legal, but track-ready. Offering a degree of performance and refinement you’ve likely never experienced—unless you’ve had a factory ride. Available to only a handful of lucky riders. And it still offers Honda’s famous CBR refinement, build quality and rideability. Get ready to find out why world champions like Marc Márquez ride red and why you should, too.

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP’s wheelbase is just 57.3 inches for super-responsive handling, while the swing arm measures 24.5 inches in length. The crankshaft centerline is 33mm farther from the front axle and 16mm higher for better front/rear balance with a rider onboard. Rake angle is 24 degrees, with 101.2mm of trail. The muffler was developed jointly with Akrapovič. It’s made out of titanium for lightweight, and the design also contributes to the bike’s mass centralization. A special valve in the exhaust helps boost torque at lower revs and increase horsepower at higher rpm. It’s also equipped with a larger instrument screen and higher resolution than previous CBR models. You can choose from a menu of screen setting options that display the information you want in a format you prefer, with items like engine temperature, riding modes, speedometer and tachometer, shifter setting, ABS level, gear position, remaining fuel, and much more.

2021-cbr1000rr-r-fireblade-gallery-07-24

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP’s quick shifter is a standard feature. It’s the perfect choice for the track day rider, and makes shifting faster than ever. Eliminating the traditional keyed ignition not only adds convenience but also lets us streamline the intake ducting for better airflow. Plus, the top triple clamp has that true racebike look. With Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), the system automatically adjusts engine power to optimize torque at the rear wheel, reducing rear-wheel slip. You get your choice of five power curves, ten torque-control levels, three engine-braking levels, and now three selectable levels of wheelie control so it’s easier than ever to dial your bike in at the track. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP’s throttle-by-wire system smooths and improves throttle response, especially at the critical initial throttle opening.

All new bore and stroke (81mm x 48.5mm) are the same as Honda’s MotoGP Champion RC213V racebike, drawing on our experience with cylinder filling and combustion gathered on the track. Normally a motorcycle engine is started up by rotating the crankshaft, however, for the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, the starter acts on the clutch main shaft. In addition to shortening the crankshaft, double use of the primary driven gear to transmit rotation from the starter motor makes an even more compact layout possible. Honda’s unique built-in bottom bypass cooling system sends cooling water differently around the top and the bottom of the cylinder. The top needs more cooling, while the bottom needs less. The technology eliminates the existing hose outside the cylinder block. Cooling water coming out from the radiator flows into areas needing to be cooled more. As a result, the difference in temperature at different locations on cylinder bores becomes smaller, so that bores are less distorted, reducing friction. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP cam drive uses a shorter chain than previous designs. A gear on the crank drives an intermediary gear/sprocket, which in turn drives the cam chain, thus shortening the overall chain run. The intake valve angle is a super-narrow nine degrees (two degrees narrower than on the CBR1000RR). This change improves ventilation efficiency inside the intake port by approximately two percent, contributing to higher power output.

2021-cbr1000rr-r-fireblade-gallery-12-24
2021-cbr1000rr-r-fireblade-gallery-11-24

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP uses a light-weight aluminum frame with 2mm thick wall sections. Vertical and torsional rigidity have increased by 18% and 9% respectively, and horizontal rigidity decreased by 11% for better feel and performance. It uses an electronically controlled NPX fork manufactured by Öhlins. By adding a pressurized damping system to the NIX fork used by the previous CBR1000RR SP, cavitation inside the damper is minimized to stabilize damping force more and improve bump absorption. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP’s front brake discs are a huge 330mm in diameter to improve braking force. The bike features Brembo Stylema front calipers while the rear caliper is the same as the Brembo used for RC213V-S. Even the brake master cylinders and front-brake lever are supplied by Brembo to offer the rider Brembo’s comprehensive braking performance. It’s also equipped with winglets which effectively generate downforce at track speeds. Three wings are installed in each of the right and left ducts in order to address downforces.

2021 YAMAHA TENERE 700.jpg

Developed from the stellar MT-07 Hyper Naked sportbike, the Ténéré 700 engine combines exceptional reliability and exciting power delivery in a compact, fuel-efficient package. With an overall size similar to some single-cylinder motors, the 689cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC inline twin gives the Ténéré 700 exceptional handing, while the counterbalanced two-cylinder design provides smooth, long-legged power ideal for long days in the saddle. The 2-cylinder engine features Yamaha’s “Crossplane Crankshaft Concept” 270-degree crank—which traces its lineage directly to the Dakar-dominating XTZ750 race bikes—to provide linear torque development in response to the rider’s throttle input. The CP2® engine is also light, slim and compact, and offers an excellent level of rider/machine communication. Electronic fuel injection settings have been calibrated to deliver a balance between rapid response—perfect for technical riding off-road—and smooth, linear delivery ideally matched for flowing progress when back on pavement. Boasting excellent fuel economy, robust acceleration, and precise controllability on- and off-road, the result is an extremely versatile powerplant. The six-speed transmission “stacks” the gearbox and the crankshaft in a triangular layout to keep the overall engine size shorter front-to-back, which optimizes engine placement in the frame for outstanding weight balance. The transmission ratios are designed to bring out the best of the low- to mid-speed torque and excellent response characteristics, letting the rider focus on the road or trail ahead.

2021 YAMAHA TÉNÉRÉ 700

A lightweight, high-strength tubular steel frame provides a tuned rigidity balance for nimble, responsive handling with the strength and durability needed to tackle the harshest terrain with confidence. The chassis utilizes a short 62.6-inch wheelbase for agility and boasts 9.5 inches of ground clearance to tackle whatever the trail throws at you. The ability to shift body weight forward and rearward to suit the terrain is crucial in off-road riding situations, so the Ténéré 700 features a flat seat and slim body that allows maximum rider agility. The narrow body and fuel tank also enable the rider to grip the tank whether sitting or standing, giving added confidence whether you're riding on dirt or asphalt. Aggressive dirt riding requires capable suspension, so the Ténéré 700 utilizes a long-travel 43mm inverted fork with 8.3 inches of travel. The beefy inverted layout is highly resistant to flex to maintain precise steering and suspension action, and the fork is fully adjustable to match changing road and trail conditions. The linkage-type rear shock is similarly outfitted for adventure, with 7.9 inches of travel, and a remote preload adjuster to easily fine-tune for changing loads or riding conditions. Unlike many so-called adventure bikes which feature cast alloy wheels or road-biased tires, the Ténéré 700 flaunts its serious off-road intentions with tough spoked wheels mounting 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tires, ideal for both on- and off-road riding. Strong and lightweight, these wheels give riders a range of tire choices, from aggressive pure enduro tires to versatile dual-sport options. The Ténéré 700 features a pair of wave-style 282mm front discs, with rear braking handled by a 245mm wave-style rotor, for powerful deceleration that isn’t afraid of dirt and dust. ABS comes standard to boost rider confidence and prevent wheel lock-ups in reduced-traction conditions, but the Ténéré 700 gives riders the option of temporarily disabling the system for full manual control—ideal for the unique demands of challenging off-road conditions.

Full-size adventure bikes like Honda’s Africa Twin are great do-it-all motorcycles. And now Honda is bringing adventure-bike style and spirit to a new class: Introducing the 2021 Honda ADV150, an adventure-style scooter that’s ready to conquer the asphalt jungle. It starts with a proven liquid-cooled 149cc four-stroke OHC engine and a steel frame. Then there’s a two-position windscreen, Honda SMART Key, plenty of under-seat storage, an automatic transmission, and the ADV150’s tough, muscular styling. Perfect for a gnarly commute, smooth enough for weekend fun riding, the new ADV150 proves that adventure truly comes in all sizes.

The ADV150’s long, plush seat is designed for comfort. The two-tone look also features two textures. Your passenger even gets an elevated section, so he or she can see the surroundings better. Plus, the ADV150’s bodywork narrows down where you sit, giving you more room. Changing riding conditions? No worries—the ADV150 features an innovative two-position windscreen. Want more breeze? Just lower it. Want improved wind and weather protection? Up she goes, no tools required. The ADV150 also has tons of available storage. First, flip open the seat and there’s a weather-resistant 27-liter main compartment that locks securely. It’s big enough for a full-face helmet and lots more. Then there’s a convenient 2-liter compartment up front with a 12-volt charging port—perfect for your phone or other quick-access needs.

2021 HONDA ADV150

Scooters can find parking way more easily than cars, but the ADV150 makes it even easier. You get the choice of both a sidestand and a centerstand. That makes it easy to park for a fast dash into a store (the sidestand) or when you need to park it upright in a tighter space (the centerstand). With a lot of other scooters, you only get one or the other. Because the engine, drivetrain and fuel tank are mounted low in the frame, the ADV150 has a low center of gravity. That helps inspire confidence, especially in parking lots or tight traffic conditions.

The ADV150 features liquid cooling and Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) for great performance in all traffic conditions and easy starting, even in cold weather. Plus the ADV150 offers impressive fuel efficiency. With the Honda V-Matic automatic transmission, just start the engine, twist the throttle and go. That means no shifting, ever—you concentrate on the road ahead and enjoy the ride! The V-Matic is a continuously variable design, so you'll always have smooth power delivery.

Great handling and rugged construction starts with a solid chassis design, and that’s where the ADV150 really shines. It uses a duplex-cradle steel-tube design rather than the more common “underbone” style. You may never see it, but you’ll feel the benefits every time you ride. The ADV 150 also features Showa telescopic front suspension with the most travel in its class, a full 5.1 inches. In the rear, a pair of premium Showa shocks feature remote piggyback reservoirs and triple-rate springs that control 4.7 inches of travel. Every ADV150 comes with Honda’s Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) giving you the power to make confident stops, even in less-than-ideal conditions.
